Persephone, the Greek goddess of spring and queen of the Underworld, symbolizes renewal, transformation, and the eternal cycle of the seasons. After being taken to the Underworld by Hades and eating the fateful pomegranate seeds, she was destined to divide her time between the worlds above and below—bringing spring and summer with her return to Demeter, and autumn and winter with her descent to the Underworld.
